I met VP Harris in 2007, when I was fortunate enough to be part of a small circle who helped launch the Center for Youth Wellness in the Bayview in San Francisco. Dr. Nadine Burke Harris had a remarkable vision, and Kamala, Katie Albright, and I endeavored to help realize her vision of a pediatric medical clinic that would address adverse childhood experiences and the social determinants of health. It was an honor to be part of this small and incredible group of women who were tireless in their efforts to protect children and to advance the wellbeing of society.
